Rainy days and avatars

May 26th, this is pretty late in the season for it to rain in California but it's good weather to remind us why teachers have classroom libraries.

On a chilly, wet day like today, the odds of the kids getting outside are pretty slim. This is a great time to encourage a love of reading. As adults know, a book can take you places far beyond the playground. The weather doesn't matter.

James Cameron gave an interesting talk at a TED conference a few years ago where he discussed how he would go on to produce Titantic and Avatar. It all started as a curious boy who loved to read science fiction books.

Take a few minutes and watch!
